Spoiling a Funeral and the Funeral Director

When we gather to worship as a house congregation we have an agape supper together, meaning we enjoy a REAL meal, and also within that meal we mark a time of celebrating our Communion with the living King in the breaking of a loaf of bread and drinking wine.

I usually have some words of leading the Communion time, and this evening here they are in a nutshell:

We're gathered here at this table not to somberly attend a funeral, but rather to raise a full, fat, joyful glass of wine to toast the King who spoiled a funeral and tied-up the Funeral Director.  We are here to praise, laud, and revel in the presence of our victorious, living King, and rest in the work He's done on our behalf.  As our brother Chrysostom stated long ago, "Where Love rejoices, there is festivity."

To put it another way: This is a Celebration.
