Superstition and Old Wives Tales Dominant "Science"

The World Health Organization recently wrote this excerpt below on June 8, 2020.  I underlined a part of it to emphasize the religious nature of this irrational hysteria over masks, and how following the god Science is founded on superstition; and this is just one of hundreds of examples I've read and heard over these past months.

"...the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider ...the use of a mask alone is insufficient to provide an adequate level of protection". (https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-use-masks)
