John Stott on What is the House of God

John Stott, in his book Our Guilty Silence, describes what the local congregation (church) is:
"The local church is 'God's Temple' in which God's Spirit dwells.  He does not live in temples made with hands; the only dwelling place to which He has bound and pledged Himself is His people...So where they are, He is.  When the church building is empty, it is not the house of God, for He is not there."
What makes this quote all the more excellent is that Stott was an Anglican (Church of England) and the pastor of All Souls Church in London (he died in 2011).
