Isaiah 9.6-7: From THAT Time Forward

With a little distance between us and the celebration of the Incarnation (Christ-mass), I thought it'd be an enlightening exercise to consider this well-worn text of Scripture from the point of view of the timing of Messiah's "government".  Ask yourself this question:

When does Isaiah write that the time of this Child's rule and dominion will be?

Read below slowly.  Try to put away any preconceived systems or views and just read the words of this passage. I've highlighted the "time" references for yer convenience.

"For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever."
(Isaiah 9.6-7, NKJV)

Questions
-- What does the text clearly state as when the time of Messiah's "government" will be?
-- Does the passage teach that His government will stop at some time and begin to decrease?
-- Does the passage teach that His government will be put on-hold, but then start back up again, having some kind of 2,000 to 3,000 year gap?
-- Does the passage teach that His government will grow uninterrupted?
-- Does it portray a king with merely a "spiritual" or heavenly rule, or one with and in Earth and Creation?

Comments
We see that the "government" was placed upon His shoulder when He is born, or "given".
We are told that His government will increase, not having a stopping point.
It is a Kingdom and rule in and on Earth and Creation (i.e. "born", "government", "throne of David", and "that time forward")
All this will be started up at THAT time .  No stops.  No work put on-hold until a later time (i.e. the "millennium").

Wrestling Point
Do you actually believe what the Word clearly states, or are you sticking with your tradition?
