Respect for the Historic Church
We believe that the historical Church, both in the Old Covenant and New, has blessed us through the Holy Spirit with much to emulate and follow. Specifically, in regards to doctrine, we agree with and are thankful for the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Creed of Chalcedon, and especially the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Catechism of 1646. We believe the Westminster Confession to be the most biblically faithful and doctrinally comprehensive statement available for the Church thus far in the New Covenant but it is not to be taken as the final confession whatsoever. As a congregation, we defer to the Westminster Confession of Faith as our doctrinal standard and guideline in what the Scripture teaches.
We also are committed to observing the historic New Covenant Christian calendar. Following the Church calendar rightly manifests our underlying unity with both the saints of the past and those in the present, and reminds us ritually of that connection. Further, we find the calendar to be eminently biblical as it continually marks out our days around the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. We follow the Reformation-revised Church calendar which consists of Advent, Feast of Christ's Birth, Epiphany, Good Friday, Resurrection Day, Ascension, and Pentecost.
